Welcome to the world of GARY. We are an experimental synth duo who have combined our previous experiences making solo sardonic electronic music (Martin Andrews/Octavia Freud) and performing off the wall absurdist comedy (Phil Jarvis/Consignia collective and Edinburgh fringe regular) to create our side project, alter-ego and everyman Gary. Although Gary is a fictional character we have created by sound-tracking his lost weekend in various musical genres, in our minds he is very real. As a regional carpet salesperson from Basingstoke he represents the working class's abandonment of the left for the price of a kebab and a pint down Spoons. He is part of the red wall massive that have lent their voting power to enable years of horrendous government rule in the hope they may yet be able to afford a second hand Ford Fiesta and a basic subscription of Netflix. Unfortunately, Gary's dreams of taking back control only extend to getting smashed on a Friday night and having a Pot Noodle. The album, 'Gary, I Love You' traces his lost weekend from the moment he is getting ready to go out to meet his girlfriend Sharon to him drunkenly falling asleep on the train home and then waking up on a ferry to Norway. Being stranded in Europe is Gary's idea of hell. Luckily, Dave the Seagull, who likes to follow Gary around in the hope of bagging some of his chips off the pavement, is on hand to help him out of various scrapes and also gets to narrate our plucky anti-heroes' tale of woe. So take a listen, find out what becomes of Gary and what this all means for the state of the nation, and if you feel inclined, how about writing a fancy review saying what total odd balls we are for coming up with this utter class war shite.
